Your Handmade Books from the Heart Kit contains all the bookmaking supplies you need to create your own unique hardcover book. Your finished book will measure 6" x 7¼".

The instruction booklet in the kit will guide you through the writing and bookmaking process. After writing your book, plan a layout design by making a book dummy using the lightweight paper included in the kit. This will give you a rough pattern for your book. Your book text can be printed by hand, printed by computer, or photocopied onto the kit’s acid-free book page paper.

Now is the time to add color to your illustrations, or to attach photographs to the book pages.	Sew your pages together with the binder's thread and needle. The bound pages are called a book signature.
Make your own hard book cover with two acid-free binder's boards and fabric. Use the fabric in this kit or another medium-weight fabric of your choice.	Glue your book signature pages into your book cover with household white or craft glue. You're an author! (For lasting results, use pH-neutral bookbinder's adhesive, available separately.)

Your book can be as simple or as complex as you choose. The actual binding (sewing and gluing) takes less than an hour. Children as young as four years of age (with supervision, of course) have used this simple kit to create charming keepsakes. Older bookmakers have used the kit's professional bookmaking materials to create beautiful forty-page heirlooms.
